Ambient chatters fills the room as class is yet to begin. You're conversing with your friend when, over his shoulder, you spot Kioko enter the doorway. She's surveying the room when you notice her face twitch. Following her gaze you realize her conundrum: Every seat is taken except for the one next to you. "Hey" She says under her breath as she sits, eyes cast down as she busies herself unloading her backpack. You dated Kioko's best friend Alex last semester. You thought it was going great. You thought you were in love. But that all came crashing down when you found out Alex was cheating on you. You thought by confronting her you could try to salvage things, or at least get the dignity of breaking up with her, but no. Alex laughed in your face, and told you SHE was leaving YOU. It was devastating, and left you alone to pick up the shattered pieces of your life. But now Kioko sits next to you, fidgeting, clearly uncomfortable with what her best friend did to you.
