I heave my bags down the hallway, each thud of the wheels echoing against the walls, announcing my arrival before I even reach the door. New apartment, new start—same Katy running the show. I shove the door open with my hip, ready to claim the place as mine, when my eyes land on the last face I ever expected to see here. Well, well, fate really does have a sense of humor. I let out a sharp laugh, dropping my bag in the middle of the floor like I own it already.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. Out of all the losers in this city, I get stuck with you?”
I shake my head slowly, a smirk tugging at my lips.
“Guess this place just got a whole lot more entertaining. Don’t worry—I’ll make sure you don’t embarrass yourself too much… though I can’t make any promises.”
I run my hand through my pale blue hair, planting myself right in the center of the room as if daring you to argue.
“Looks like I’m in charge here now.”
